When I visit East Bridgewater overnight on the weekends, one of the many things I look forward to is breakfast out. Often times, I find myself strolling into Johnny D's late morning... fingers crossed that they aren't packed. A bit of a smaller breakfast location, this restaurant provides everything you need for a meal out... tables, chairs, and a few bustling waitresses shelling out plates and cupfuls of breakfast-y delights. If the wait is too long, I will generally not bother... but most recently I was able to acquire a table for 4 in a relatively short time. Our drinks were poured quickly, orders taken promptly after that. But unfortunately, that is where the speed ended. We waited for quite some time before our main meals arrived. We waited to the point where I was anxiously awaiting the food at the couple's table who arrived before us... knowing that ours wasn't even a possibility until their's came out. With eagle eyes, I followed the travels of every plate coming out of the kitchen until finally it was our turn. The menu selection is pretty extensive. I was able to read through a couple of different specials before choosing one. I am not sure if it has a specific name, but I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, french toast, and corned beef hash. That's right. When it comes to breakfast, I am a huge glutton. All of these options came in the form of one $9 special (a great deal in my opinion), with the corned beef hash added in and shared with someone from the group. I was very happy with the quality and taste of the food. In fact... as a side note: the home fries are amazing when you order them well done. The waitresses are nice enough but are surely focused on rushing around to fulfill everyone's needs in the restaurant. The staff were markedly testy with each other... making faces, rolling eyes, and the like anytime one or the other had to squeeze through a small aisle or complete various tasks within the restaurant. I guess this is somewhat understandable late morning on an overly busy weekend day but perhaps they could be less "in-your-face" about it with the customers. All in all, Johnny D's is a good place to get a solid breakfast if you are patient or have a knack for hitting up restaurants on the off-hours.

Our waitress was very nice, but there were other waitresses not so pleasant. Food took a little too long, as we waited about 20-25 min for a very easy order. Menu was alright. Price was a little high for an average run of the mill breakfast joint. Probably won't go back.

There were actual maggots in my drink and in my friends. They still made us pay for everything too! I will not be bringing my business here ever again!

Weak coffee, bland unidentifiable "au gratin" on an egg special. They use correct red bliss potatoes for homefries, unfortunately they use that grotesque orange tinge all spice. Also, I got one slice of "Texas" french toast. HA!! Texas sized for an ant, maybe. Where do these places get off calling regular slice of bread as Texas french toast?

I am from Texas and had never tried real corned beef hash. The hash at Johnny D's is so wonderful, Im scared to try it anywhere else and ruin my great memory of hash. I brought a big Texas appetite and also had homfries, eggs, toast, and a waffle with apples. I cleaned my plate! The staff was friendly and welcoming. We definitely look forward to our next breakfast at Johnny D's. My only advice is show up before the crowd does.

This is a go-to place for breakfast. It's really small-towny, with waitresses who seem to have worked there for years and know what they're doing. They're great with kids. When my three young boys were getting rambunctious, the waitress brought over coloring books and crayons to keep them occupied. Only issue with being a popular but small place is that we always have a wait to be seated and the food takes a bit long to receive. But the pancakes are delicious and they make a perfect omelette.

The staff is friendly and the food is pretty good. It would definitely get a better review if it wasn't for the dated look on the inside and tight seating.

I have been a weekly regular for several years. After dining at many local eateries in Bridgewater-Brockton area I will resolutely state that no other restaurant offers breakfast has the great quality-tastiness-price ratio of Johnny D's. Period. Their breakfast has become a mainstay of my weekend. The basic breakfast of eggs, toast, home fries and sausage will satisfy your churning stomach. The home fries are particularly well seasoned and rounds out a fine meal at a reasonable price. Pancakes and waffle combinations are also quite delish especially their seasonal pumpkin pancakes. Johnny D's is often crowded on the weekends and service is good but waits for orders can easily be up to a half an hour or more (36 minutes recently). Obviously most feel that it is worth the wait and I guess do too. Easily the best in the Bridgewaters and I would be willing to bet Brockton as well! My review may be too generous with the wait time but I will stand by it.

Johnny D's is good for value and for food. It's just that... good. I know I say that a lot, but places have to impress me. I'm going to a restaurant to PAY for FOOD. It is the restaurants responsibility to give me a quality product for my money. So what if I have to send back my belgium waffle for being overcooked. Don't spit in it and then give it back to me when I'm giving you MY money. (This was just a rant and does in no way, shape or form, reflect any practices of Johnny D's Breakfast Place - all of the aforementioned "belgium waffle" is purely an example and a fictitious one, I may add). Anyways, everything is cooked well... that's about it, well. I would recommend getting a combination and stick with that because the sides can run you up. Waffles are good, as are pancakes. Yes, and the waits can be large, especially on the weekend. Nevertheless, I will only give Johnny D's 3 stars because of the wait and sometimes other annoying customers. But... Cactus Approved.
